yes 2 18s will fit physically
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=233634

but you have to be more concerned as to if you can get the require air space and port volume for the subs to sound good. One well setup 12 can beat 2 poorly setup 18s

All depends on the subs and the box you're planning on building. My Kicker 18" CVRs are only 8 1/4" mounting depth and have small magnets. They fit with a little clearance to my fiberglass box. So I guess you need to research the mounting depth, size of magnet, and cubic foot requirements for the subs you're looking into, because it would really suck to get a pair then find out they won't fit in the car.

I'm assuming by "back" and "sump" you are referring to the hatch well.

Here's a pic of a fiberboard box the audio shop did (It was way to small for the cubic foot I need'd.)

-------------EDIT------------
Boomin Boy beat me to it. I agree on what he said though. My situation was I picked the subs cheap and wanted to do something no one else around here would even think about. If I was going to do it all over again I think I would pick 2 12" or 2 15" expensive subs and do something different again.

The funny thing is 99.9% of 15" subs require 3.5 internal VAS and i just put 15 and 2 10's in my car and there is zero space left under the hatch so 2 18's can not be put together very well in a camaro

id say if you're going to go with a big sub...use a single sub setup so you can get the correct airspace and powering it properly will be cheaper.

im in a hole right now because i have two 18s ready to go in but dont have a car big enough to hold them without going in a wall

however if i get another malibu wagon a sub wall for that car would be super easy

yea thats awsome, well i know that ppl say that one 15 can hit better than 2 12s. so am i right to assume( already assuming the 12s would be setup right and be good quality, and that the 15 was set up right and was good quality) that one 18 will kill the 15 or 2 12's for hitting hard.

also i kno the 12's i was looking at are good in a smaller enclosure and will have tight response. what kinda response should i expect outa teh 15 or the 18.

i want to have serious bass but not at the expense of SQ.

the size of the sub really means nothing as far as output and SQ go.

a bigger sub can get louder as it has more cone area so it will generally move more air and will generally hit slower because the cone is heavier than a smaller sub so it gets sloppier.

but there are 18s out there with light cones and super strong motors that will hit faster than a lot of 10s. consequently there are a lot of high excursion 10s and 12s out there that will hit harder than a lot of 18s

response depends on which subs you're using and the enclosure

Just an couple of samples

94 Firebird 3-JL 12w3 sealed w/ PPI PC1800 152.6dB

99 Camaro 1- RF Power DVC 12 Vented Virtual Tech. box w/ RF 1000 151dB

96 T/A same sub and box as above w/ RF 800.2 152dB

All in the well area.

Did 1 other late model Firebird w 2 15 in place of backseat, but he won't let us put it on the meter.

Size and weight of the cone have NOTHING to do with "speed". That is a factor of inductance.

Like I always say... It all comes back to how much time, money, and personal prefrence.

Basically you gotta draw the line at the budget and the goals for the system. It doesn't make much since if you want a strip only car and you put in 2 18s that weigh 40+ lbs each.

It sounds like you're wanting a daily driven rounded out system. You're not looking to break state records in SPL.

I wouldn't go for 18s unless you really like building boxes and highly customizing things. Heck the 4+ month build time it took for mine I was ready to just scrap the whole project cause it was so long and drawn out.

I would say just stay with 10s, 12s, or 15s. I would look into some unkown brand to the area like Adire, RE, or similiar so you can get the WOW impression when people ask who makes the subs.
