How to on SCV 4th gen in 3rd Gen

Here is a how to on getting the scv to work with your third gen......

First thing is to solder a jumper wire to the correct pin on the back of the radio....Very easy to do:

The 16th one on the connector. You can tell by the numbered rows labeled by GM on the connector.

Then you need to get your ECM from out of the passenger side dash area and unplug the black connector (VSS buffer) from the yellow harness mounted on the ECM. Find the green wire with the black stripe and connect another wire (long enough to reach your radio bay) to it:

In the pic above I was going to solder the wire to the connector, but solder will not stick to aluminum . So I ended up using the blue wire connector (the one that crimps and connects wire to existing wire) to connect the wire.

Plug the connector back in and reinstall the ECM.

Now get the wire you connected and ran to the radio bay and connect to the jumper wire that is on the radio:

Install radio and go for a test drive.....Pretty damn nice huh??

Here is the radio all done:

I think this would be a pretty good tech article add on...Whatcha think mods

I agree, but I'm no mod. I bet a lot of the people who like to stick with a dead stock appearance would like to know how to get better late model decks to function 100%

2 Reasons....

1. Wanted to go with the Nostalgic Tape Deck look.

And 2.

18.00 Shipped on EBAY

Gotta love it

BTW...I have SIRIUS sat radio also...so really no need for the CD deck.

Speed Controlled Volume. It was a feature on later 4th gen Delco radios that took advantage of the 4L60E's speed sensor to increase the volume as you drove faster, and vice versa.

That sounds horribly obnoxious.

if you have any sort of exhaust system, or windows down/t-tops off... it comes in handy..

I had a Pioneer with that, and it did not work VERY GOOD AT ALL, compared to the Delco deck in my friend's 2000 Camaro.... VSS is definitely the way to go... as my Pioneer used a microphone, and I could never get it to work quite right...

what's funny is the new high-end Pioneers don't have it anymore because it was a joke
