Amp shuts on and off randomly
Ok so free stuff is always awesome, but this amp my friend just gave me doesnt work right. it turns on and off randomly he said. its a 600 watt kenwood KAC729S. He gave it to me and said if i can fix it just give him like ten bucks if not whatever. Im trying to figure out what would cuz this glitch though and i immediately assumed that something was loose inside but i just go it a few minutes ago and have yet to open it. Any ideas on what would cuz this to turn on and off on him?

Re: Amp shuts on and off randomly
bad connection or the amp is overheating and going into thermal protect mode if it has it. to stop that turn the gain down. and run it at a higher numerical ohmage.

Re: Amp shuts on and off randomly
thanks. Ive obviously never hooked up an amp before to I've yet to hook it up in my car because i need to run the wires and everything but the settings he gave it to me with are as follows
filter=LPF (out fo off or lpf
operation=stereo (out of stereo or mono)
input sensitivy=max (min, 1.0, 0.5, 0.3, max)
Should i change any of those?
Im going to go to bestbuy tomorrow to replace my speakers and the ill get my bassblockers and all the stuff to re-wire my speakers, my alt and battery connections and hook up this amp.
Any suggestions on what i could set this on to dissapate heat better. i was thinking of a platform sort of with sheet aluminum, maybe a few pieces of 22 gauge aluminum mounted down under the amp to release so heat and so that the amp isnt sitting directly on the carpet over the rear wheels. or should i just hide it out of the sun. like mounted against the plastic in the rear under the hatch light? Im just trying to make it perform really well without having to move it around or anything.
I am tinting the windows in two weeks tho so if that will help enough with heat ill do the basic install on the hatch platform above the wheels.

Re: Amp shuts on and off randomly
how high is your gain..because if its maxed out it might be why its gettin way to hot..if its not a wire...turn down your gain abit
