Favorite Tunes to Torture Audio Equipment

So I'm gonna drop into a local car audio shop today. What's your favorite tunes to torture their equipment? I'm thinking I'll take along my IPOD and thumb drive and let some Metallica (Death Magnetic) & Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon) rip to see if their stuff's got what it takes. If their systems can handle "The Judas Kiss" then it's gotta be pretty good eh?

Early Rush would work it over well especially if you use anything from "Moving Pictures".

*lol* That's kinda funny! First tune I played was "Red Barchetta".

This shop had a decent selection of decks, amps & speakers. I ran a half dozen songs over the Infinity equipment and it didn't even burp even when we cranked some Metallica. The PDX-5 & Kappa speakers are a nice combination and I think that's what I'll go with.

I always liked testing new systems with At The Gates - Suicide Nation, Heaven Shall Burn - Murderers Of All Murderers, anything off Common - Resurrection or some good ole' Beethoven. See how it reacts with all the equipment, should be good if the sounds is equal.

I'd go for anything from Disturbed first. Then, try "Idioteque" (Radiohead) and "How Soon is Now" (The Smiths).

Nightwish - wish i had an angel,
Drowning pool - Let the bodies hit the floor,
Slipknot - Psychosocial,
Demon Hunter - Sixteen,
Avenged Sevenfold - Almost easy,
Killswitch Engage - Fixation on the Darkness...

God i could go all day on this..

Any thing fast paced, double bass'd, heavy.

I second on something by Slayer, not a big fan but its heavy sh1t.

Not to into (c)rap, but i know some of it sounds good with a couple 12's lol

Re: Favorite Tunes to Torture Audio Equipment

I'm gonna have to ask my Kid form some of that stuff. He's into those kind of bands and plays in one. He's always trying to get me to listen to some of those European Death Metal bands but sorry I just don't get it. I was around when Heavy Metal was born and guess those early bands are just ingrained in my nature. Cream, King Crimson, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep etc. One tune I ran over the Clarion system yesterday was "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth, it managed to float the subs!

Personally, my fave bands are COLD and Brainstorm. Those rock my Pioneer more often than anything.

Re: Favorite Tunes to Torture Audio Equipment

playing metal would be some funny s*** at your local shop. Hotel California acoustic version by the Eagles is a really good song to test out a system. Theres alot of range and also a real good bass line!

Re: Favorite Tunes to Torture Audio Equipment

I always liked using 2 Alice In Chains songs- Rooster and Would... then I'd do the end of Tool- 46 and 2. I'm thinking Van Halen- Eruption would be a good one too. Overall, I'd suggest testing it with something you're going to actually listen to once you buy it! I love older stuff like Black Sabbath, Van Halen and early Metallica... but they didn't mix them with much bass back then so you have to compensate for it. Hot For Teacher would be a great test with the opening drums, but you have to crank the bass up to have it pound.

1812 Overture -- Tchaikovsky

Fanfare for the Common Man --Aaron Copland

I used both of these evaluating sytems for IASCA when I was a wee bit younger.

"Would" is my favorite Alice in Chains song. Sigh. I wish Layne hadn't died.
