Where to put Amp?
Hi, I recently purchased a box with 2 twelves that fits down into the well in the hatch. I love the way it looks but would prefer to have the amp under the speaker box in the well. I don't want the amp showing. The place I bought the speaker box from said that the amp will over heat in the well because it wont have enough ventilation. I wanted to get some other opinions on this and see if everyone agrees? Thanks Ryan

Re: Where to put Amp?
I put mine in the rear glove box in the trunk. I did not want anything visible or taking up trunk space. It is a Alpine PDX-V9, which is 100x4 plus another 500x1, I think. It is particularly nice because that amp is totally connected with plug in connectors, so it is easy to take out and put in if necessary. In other words, the speaker wires, power wires etc are all dis-connectable plugs. Once the wires were run into that glove box, the amp was installed in 2 minutes. It just sits in there. No screws.
I did end up with a small 8" sub in a box on the trunk floor, which I can remove and leave home if I need the room since nothing is attached to it but the speaker wires. Surprisingly, that 8" sub, which is a jl audio 8w3v3, can make so much bass that it will disassemble the interior if I play it too loud. This is in a tiny sealed $40 box. So, because I don't want to have to put loctite on every screw in my car, I can't play it anywhere near its capability. Even more remarkable because the 5 channel alpine amp is also very small. about 2x8x10 inches. There is room for 6 of them in that glove box. But you are only supposed to stack 3 of them, and if I did that I'd probably put a fan in there. But with one amp, it does not get hot.
