Problem - Amps not working!

Ok, this happens everytime I disconnect the negative power lead to work on something, and then plug it back in. My receiver still works because I can see the music playing (mine has a spectrum analyzer thing), so I know the CD is playing. However, my speakers (wired through the amps) don't turn on. Sometimes this fixes itself, but it is annoying as hell. Any ideas as to why it is doing this? Thanks

Eric

I could be when you disconnect the ground it resets your HU and you HU has a menu that turns on your amps. Does it? How many times has this happened? What did you do the other times to get it working if it did?

Removing the negative wire is not good. All you are doing is removing the ground, which can be substituted with another ground path that can include body parts.

You should remove the positive wire when working on electrical equipment. If you have your memory lead from the H/U wired to a separate point you will not have do any reprogramming.

actually, u should always remove the ground from the battery when attempting any electrical work, thats the safest way to do it

IF you remove the postive from the amp, take out the fuse under the hood. I neglected this onetime and i had a nice tiny circle burned on the top of the amp. It still worked though .. =D
