Q-jet problem update
Well I was having a problem with the gas in the vacuum lines and rebuilt carb would not idle. Here is what I have found. It would run if I kept it over 2000rpm but die if I let off. I adjusted the rich screw (one in the little tower by the primaries) I got a gauge and there was only about 1mm travel. I turned it all the way and got about 2-3mm travel. It will idle when the engine is cold (at about 2000rpm) but once it warms up, it won't idle again until it cools off. The engine heats up in about 1min to the 200 degree range. ANY help GREATLY appriciated!!!

Car: No more birdy
Sounds like it might be a bum carb.
I would turn both air and fuel mixture screws in all the way then back them both out 1 1/2 turns and work from there. 1 1/2 turns out seems to be a good base and is atually perfect for most lower cube SBC's.
Good luck!

Did you seal the casting plugs under the float bowl with epoxy? You may have a drip if its an older carb.

That wouldn't cause gas to get into the vacuum lines (from his previous post).
Alan, I agree with the answer you got in your previous post. It really sounds like the float isn't doing its job. Before you try fiddling with it anymore from the outside, make sure it is doing the first thing it's supposed to do right - keeping the fuel level where it belongs.
