rebuild quadrajet or find Holley?
I have an older quadrajet that has sat for a little while and probably needs a rebuild. I had heard that the rebuilds were pretty easy to do, and that they were good for a lot of power, and could be tuned pretty easy if you are mechanically inclined. Would it be better for me to go this route, or try to find a Holley or Edelbrock carb to work with? It will go on a 350, and the quad that I have is a 650

If you want performance, get a Holley. But if you do, i hope you know how to tune a carb, they are known to be finiky.

I think it all depends what carbs you are brought up on. Everyone knows how to tune a Holley so you can usually get more help from people you know. For those that bother to understand them Qjets are good too.
I prefer the Holley, parts are as easy to find as people who understand them.

Holleys are no different that a Q-jet as far as tuning goes.. its just that the Holley you will probably have to tune more often than the Q-jet.

whats more often? once a year? sound good to me, lol...
i'm looking for a NEW carb too... was looking at Holley because of there prices, do they make a Electric Choke + Manual Sec around 600cfm for a good price? else i think i can go chokeless since i dont drive after October, wich is 10*Celcius when i stop using the car.
I dont realy feel like making a hole in the firewall to put an ugly manual choke handle... and its not clean having the wire in the engine bay... my opinion
my car is manual btw.
