What are the advantages?
I have been looking to purchase an IROC Camaro, and looking at the specs, the TPI have generally more HP than the carburetor. So what is the advantage, if any, of having a carb over the TPI? Would a carb replacement give the same HP benefit as TPI, or is there any reason to convert a TPI to Carb?

You can get more out of a carb for less money than the factory TPI setup, without having to deal with a computer.

Just a few ...
1) Money to upgrade is less for a Carb motor
2) Clean up the engine bay
3) Tuning may be easier (depending on skill level)
4) Easier to feed more air and fuel (i.e. 750 or 1000CFM) in a Carb application versus dealing with plenums, MAF sensors, and expensive in tank sending units.
5) Usually more torque in an identical setup (horsepower may suffer slightly).

Actually, factory stock, that is true.
Carb cars were not even close to being built to their potential. TPI is much closer to being optimized for what you can get out of a factory TPI.
