help please! pump won't keep running.

so i got my carbed 377 running, took it around the block a couple time's ran pretty good, took it to work this morning and when i went to leave it ran for about twenty seconds then died, it seems that the fuel pump isn't running after it originally pressures up the system, i have oil pressure at the gauge so I'm not sure why its not running, anyone else have any idea's?

Relay shorting, i've heard bad filters buliding up pressure kicking off pumps, bad pump, make sure your using a return style regulator dead heads also build up to muck pressure

yes i have a return style regulator on it, the pump will come on when i turn the key on but some times i have to turn the key on and off two or three times before it does so, even when the fuel bowl is empty? is there a way to hot wire the pump from the engine bay so i can drive it home, work is about four blocks away. thanks

U can jumper it at relay most have the schematics of which pin is what on the relay itself use a bigger gauge wire and only for short period of time should be ok w/4blocks but dont quote me on that and i dont suggest it but should get u home

Yes. I spliced a run-only hot wire into the relay to get it to pressure course I didn't bypass the relay. You could try swapping another relay in and see if the fuel pump works. I doubt you would need the cooling fan relay for those 4 blocks.

Re: help please! pump won't keep running.

It would help to know what car we're talking about here - so we could tell you what wires to jump at the fuel pump relay. I don't know about anyone else here, but I have no idea what a "94 short box" is at all And given "94", doubt we have the wiring diags anyway. Is this a 3rd gen F-body car?

Good point I just figured it was a 3rd gen. I normally don't even look at car details.

Re: help please! pump won't keep running.

So, you'll need to track down wiring diags for that year/model truck and find a spot to introduce new fuel pump wiring - we won't have that info here since it's not a 3rd gen F-body.
