rpm trouble, new to carbs
I recently bought an 84 z28 with the original carbed 305, which had the original air intake snorkel thing. I took it off today and put on an open air filer. As soon as i did that whenever i put it in park the rpms rise to in between 1500-2000 rpms instantly, the idle rpm has rose slightly, and it just doesnt seem to drive right. Not sure whats up this is my first carbed vehicle ever so i have no idea about them at all. Any help would be appreciated

Re: rpm trouble, new to carbs
ALSO i am thinking it may have something to with these. There is a metal tube coming up from the passenger side valve cover that plugged into the old cleaner, and a vacuum tube that that connected from the old air cleaner and the carb, and i plugged up the whole on the carb since there is no vacuum line anymore. Anyone know if it would have something to with these or what these are called or what they do???

Re: rpm trouble, new to carbs
Yes It Does The Engine Was Programed To Run With Them All Connected.
The Metal One (77) Is The Crankcase Vent Pipe The Flexable One (6) Is The Carb Hot Air Tube ,The Rubber Vacuum Hose (Not Shown) Controls The THERMAC Air Cleaner.
