Problem with seller in classifieds

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I didn't know where to put it. On 11/23/03 I got an email stating that payment was recieved for a rocker panel ground effect that I bought through the classifieds from someone with the email address Kdawg2u@aol.com, I can't remember his user name. The email said that it was going to be sent out that week, but I have yet to recieve anything. I emailed him on 1/8/04, but have yet to hear anything back from him. I'm curious if anyone else here has done business with this person. I've been buying parts over the internet for about three years now and I guess I've just been lucky not getting shafted yet, I guess I should be glad it was over something this cheap. If this isn't just a misunderstanding I'm surprised that this happened on the thirdgen.org classifieds. I have always and will continue to think of this site and its users as good people, I wouldn't have thought twice about buying on here before. Can anyone let me know if there is any bad feedback about this person? Thanks in advance.

unfortunatley....that is not the case. I hate to say it, but this classified section has just as much potential for thievery and scaming as any other place you can think of.

It upsets me because I sell here often and I'm sure it's jerks like this guy you speak of that make people on the opposite coast apprehensive about buying from me.

To combat this problem, I use Pay-Pal and keep a feedback post in these boards. I think everyone who buys something should post the feedback. The moderator has suggested to put all feedback for each member in one post to keep it simple for others to search, I second that because that is what I have been doing all along.

i don't know if it is against the law to do this, but if you have his address, you can see to it that his mail box gets flooded with junk mail from all directions. Most Americans know how this is done: register for prize drawings, credit cards, free catalouges, mailing lists.....it's an ugly waste of paper and it's sure to irk this idiot who neglected to send your parts. I would send him a forged check and ask him to re-send the package, when he goes to cash it, he would be in some trouble. Just be sure it is not tracable to you.

I took a chance and bought a $55 ball joint for my 3000 GT from a man in New Zealand. Sure I knew that this man was separated by 5000 miles of ocean, but he had a good attitude, no reason to think something was up. I heard of him through a short search of www.3si.org forums, his name came up a few times, I emailed him and to no surprise......Pay-Pal user, I was confident i was talking to a stand up guy. I wired the $55us and 2 weeks later I got a brand new ball joint (not available anywhere in North America) in an airmail package for a total of $55! Not only did I send money to his pay-pal, i sent it pay-pal to pay-pal.

If I can trust somebody in New Zealand, I should be able to trust someone in the states, unfrotunatley that is not so. One more thing.....my frist sale, happened to be sent through ...Pay-pal.
I got some checks in the mail only after i had a good feedback thread. I would hightly suggest the services of Pay-pal, they scrape soem money off of the top, but it ensures that people are less likely to attemp such petty and sensless acts of scamery.

My recomedations: If you don't know'em.....don't deal with'em (by knowing, I mean knowing of them, other members testomonails ect..)

If they won't go through the trouble of setting up a pay-pal account, don't deal with them. I suppose you could wire directly to the bank or use western union, it's a matter of judgement.

Thanks for the info junkyard. I'm only out $40 so its not really a big deal, but I will be more cautious now. When I look back on the fact that I have sent hundreds of dollars at a time for parts out on deals through the internet it makes me realize how lucky I was.

farm-kid, his name is Kyle Stone and he's from Southaven, Mississippi. It's annoying that people like Mike and Kyle(if thats their real names) ruin the experience of online buying, especially in this thirdgen community.

If it was hundreds of dollars sure but I'm not doing anything drastic over 40 bux.

By the way, the guy who duped me is posting in the classifieds again. His user name is "stone89roc" and the subject is "Any part you need I've got!" Just a warning to anyone thinking about buying something off him, DON'T!!!!!!!

I've tried emailing him one last time but at this point I believe the point is moot.

Oh yeah, and oddly enough the mailing address I got from him was in Mississippi but the location now under his desciption is Memphis. Wonder what thats all about.
