coolant overflow problem and leak inside
Hi
I noticed a pool of coolant on top of the overflow bottle and also a lack of coolant in the bottle itself -can only assume it toppled over the top when it got hot (it was to the correct level).
I also today noticed that coolant is all over the passenger floor -so some kind of connector must have burst in the heater module (where the screws are a nightmare to get to!!!)
Anyway -does anyone think I'm right in assuming the thermostat has failed -I'm guessing it failed and the pressure caused something in the heater module to burst and overflow the plastic container too?? -I've changed the thermostat but before I go to the hassle of fixing whatever's wrong under the dash, thought I'd better get a second opinion.
thanks
Andrew
PS -if anyone is filling the radiator with coolant with the cap off (as instructed in the haynes manual) make sure you fix the lid back on before switching the engine off or water shoots out like a firemans hose!!! -I found to my misfortune today -went everywhere.
