305 compressor

I have an '87 camaro vert w/305. My a/c compressor is bad and there is one on ebay out of an '87 305 w/tpi. Is this the same a/c compressor as one in my 305 with a carb? Are all the 305s a/c compressors the same? Thanks Rick

Re: 305 compressor

More than likely yes. If it the same shape and design (looks the same), it should work. The problem with buying a compressor online is you don't know if it still good...you'd be taking his work for it. Also, has your a/c system been open? Or is the compressor just bad and you are waiting to buy a new one before opening up your system? When you open the system, you also have to replace the accumulator or receiver/dryer too. Getting a new or reconditioned compressor isn't that expensive from a parts house and you know it will work or they will take it back and replace it with a good one. I would just hate to see you go through all the work of replacing the compressor, adding oil and refrigerant to it to have to take it all back apart again. Especially if you use R-12 which is like $60 a can now...

Re: 305 compressor

Autozone or Advance Auto has them...usually for under $75. At least that way you have the local parts store there to return it to if something is wrong.
