fan rubs shroud and blows fuse

1986 LG4 w/single electric fan

I was forced to remove the original fan and shroud. When i remounted them, the fan hits/sticks to parts of the shroud and blows the fuse.

I'm having a tough time getting a good fit. I suppose over the years the heat warped all the parts. Now when i place them back to original mounts, the fan rubs in a few spots.

Does anyone have suggestions on how i can modify to get past this dilemma?

I want to stay with original equipment and want a quick fix.

Re: fan rubs shroud and blows fuse

This seems to be a common problem among third gens, IMO.

This happened to my friends camaro, ultimately causing him to need a new water pump, fan, and radiator. It also happened on my 88 IROC vert.

It seems that however you adjust it, it keeps rubbing, Both time I just fixed it by installing a fan that wasnt rubbing, and it seemed to do the trick. Best of luck!
