factory a.c or removed???
i was giving my car an overhaul last week and was wondering if my 85 iroc came with a.c or not... i see the controls for hot/cold but my engine bay looks different... not sure if im missing the smog pump or that silver can on the left??? it was last inspected in 2010 so im not sure if the smog pump was deleted before or after or if it even had one... also, i dont see cut hoses or brackets for that silver orvice (i t hink that what it is..) when i turn the cool controls to high its blows cool air, no ac cod but cool... havent tried it while driving...

Re: factory a.c or removed???
Those are the factory controls for a car W/O AC, and there's no signs of any unit having been there under the hood either, but people change things. You would have to check the RPO codes to know what it came with from the factory.

Re: factory a.c or removed???
You do not have A/C. When set on cold, the vents will blow air that is the exact temperature that the air is outside at base of the windshield.

Re: factory a.c or removed???
i might buy a universal kit from an ac company like classic air....
i think its a shame that our cars are almost 30 years and there still isnt a kit available for us... no one make ac kits for 3rd gens

Re: factory a.c or removed???
common causes, but not the only ones, stopped up heater core, low radiator fluid so hot fluid isn't making it to the core.
if the heater core was leaking badly enough to stop it from heating you would have the smell of hot fluid in the car wet floor boards or fluid in a puddle under the car.
not changing and flushing fluid often enough will plug up a core or eat it up when the coolant degrades enough

Looks like you will need everything from the a/c condenser to the control head and everything in-between... Find a donor car.

1) Yes they do. 2) Not familiar with how the LS3 mounts the compressors, (sorry). 3) -----------------> Google/thirdgen search function for LS swaps.
