92 305 tbi fan switch

Alright guys, I got an interesting one here. My Camaro started overheating a while back so I started digging around here and found the problem. My fan switch. I replaced it and while I was under my car I decided to ground the switch wire just to check and the fans came on. Fans come on with ac on so that's how I stop it from overheating right now. Well with the new switch in, I still overheat. What could be causing this? Bad switch? I bought it new of course. Just for reference in town driving is the only time it overheats. Or just idling in a parking lot. It's fine on the freeway. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Caleb

Not sure if you already know this, but the fan on temp for the stock switch is something like 238 degrees...i switched to a JET fan switch because I got tired of driving with the heat on non-stop to keep the car around 180. This turns the fan on at 195 and off at 185. It's been working like a charm for me.

I knew that but I'm not sure how accurate my gague is. I turn my fans on with the ac when it starts boiling out the reservoir. Or before normally. But my car never got this hot before this started. Thank you for the info and I may get one of those switches just to make it run cooler.
