Before I purchase a EBL..
I would like to know is there a way for me to find out where my engine and it's a/f etc., are at currently? I had a custom burn done but I don't know how close it is to being correct. If it is close then I don't want to mess with anything.
I have data logged it but I don't understand the numbers coming out.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Before I purchase a EBL..
Well, I just want my car to run as well as it can. I mean if it is right in the ballpark then I don't need to mess with it. But if there is room for some improvement then I would like to do so.
Thanks for your help.

You dont have much of a datalog there?? Looks like primarily idle and maybe a throttle blip or 2. The BLM are good for those areas though. Go for a drive for about an hour and see what the rest of the map/blm/int table looks like once you get into some more Area's or the graph. If it is all that good then you dont need to tune anymore. Although the Ebl will give you more options and tunability for future mods etc. Plus it will do Ve learns wich is a nice option to have. Just my 2c's

Great, thank you for your input.
Bad part is I live in MT and she's put away for the winter. I will have to take her on a drive and data log again in the spring. I will see where she is at that point and get back to you.
Thanks again for your help.

when you do go out for a drive try and stay out of PE! Meaning dont mash the throttle etc. Consistant throttle movments and try and find a nice steep long hill to climb that way you will get into the higher map areas without envoking PE etc. It will take awhile to get alot of sample's in all the Ve area's but you should beable to get a General idea after a long drive where you might need to make adj. Also make sure the engine is fully warmed up and in Closed loop operation. Hope this helps?

Re: Before I purchase a EBL..
Lets look at the number of samples. See wide #. A large number of samples provides a reliable trend. Check out 30 map and 800 rpm. 105 samples. Note Wide AVG BLM of 118. 118 is adding fuel. That does not mean you are running rich just that 02 feedback requires more fuel be added. That is one cell to change in VE table. See map 40 RPM 2000 144 hits and 116.7 on BLM. So again adding fuel. Now MAP 40 and rpm 2400 only ONE sample not reliable yet shows 114 or adding fuel. 3200 RPM and MAP 40 11 hits and 122 BLM. I see a trend in that VE needs to enrichened in most if not all cells. I would add (128/117 = 1.09) 6%-8% to all cells keeping VE table <128. And rerun datalog. 125-131 should be where you want to be. I prefer 126-127 but that is just my preference.

Re: Before I purchase a EBL..
So I need a program to change that then... purchasing an EBL will allow me to make my necessary changes or is there a better less expensive way to do that?
Ronny, in your opinion what would you do? I have nothing other than a laptop at my disposal at this time. Should I get the EBL or is there another way that you might go?
Thanks,
RS

Re: Before I purchase a EBL..
You can change VE tables manually by use of a program such as "base" Tuner Pro. Tunerpro RT is a datalogging program. some thing tells me the datalogs "may" produce a corrected bin(VE) for you as well. Not sure. Never used RT. Check TP site. You will also need to burn a new chip. check Moates site on that as well as emulators offerred. EBL creates a new.bin while datalogging then you flash it(no chip) into place. The other areas still need to be addressed like cold start A/F pumpshot AE and WOT PE as well as a few others. That requires a WB for best result.

Re: Before I purchase a EBL..
Looking at the 20090517_170122_KNOCK.txt file I see one count. No big deal there.
Looking at the 20090517_170056_BLM.txt file most of the BLM values are below 128. Even as low as 108 which is the lower limit. The ECM is pulling a lot of fuel out. With the '8746 ECM this means that the engine will be running rich until closed loop and the BLM's adjust.
Note that the _INT & _O2 files are not worth looking at. They don't tell you anything. The _LOG file is not formatted to make it understandable. Not sure why WinALDL does it that way.
If you are serious about tuning and getting the most from your engine there is only one way to go. Everything in one package. The only additional cost item is a laptop with a serial port (or USB to Serial adapter cable). The difference between it and tools such as WinALDL is like the difference between the first manned space vehicles and the Star Trek Enterprise.
