New weird problem 87 iroc-z

I was welding some bullet mufflers to the new dual exhaust i made for my car and as usual i always dissconect the batterty, both terminals. I've never had issues befor but i noticed after comeing back from a decent cruise the temp guage was at 220f but i have it programmed to come on at 170 F. The fan has always come on with no problem. This is the primary fan conroled by the ecm i;m talking about here. I grounded the green/white wire at the ecm and the fan turns on soo it works fine but i'm wondering if it's possible i fried the cuircut in the ecm while welding the exhaust. It ran just fine while driving but the primary fan wont kick on at 170 like it always has. Any ideas?

It could be that the ECM driver is history. Also check that the CTS is reading OK. If it is off the ECM won't know that the engine is hot.

Re: New weird problem 87 iroc-z

well i went to the scarap yard and found a 16198445 ecm they are supose to be alot better than the 1227165 ecms so i'll try that out. i also noticed when i pulled the panel off for the ecm that there was coolant on it not much but some. soo it looks like i need to do the heater core, Also would the memcal be the problem here? could it have shorted somehow?

I just did some driving with my diagnostic comp hooked up and the temp reached 198f and the computer said it turned the fan on but still nothing happened.
