Knock question

Guys,

I have only been burning chips for a short while...gotta question. I am using WinBin for editing. If I turn off the Knock flag will this disable the knock sensor for hearing any knock? The reason I ask is because I have a huge power loss under moderate to heavy acceleration...it feels like the computer is pulling out alot of timing. I disabled the knock flag but the loss is still there.

I am using the ARAP bin, but I also tried a bin with way more conservative timing and it did the same thing. That led me to think that maybe the knock sensor was picking up a mechanical knock in the motor....that is why I disabled it with the flag. Currently I don't have any means for scanning while driving the car so I am just trying to narrow it down.

If my question above is true, I may just have to add a bunch of fuel to it to see if it is actually running itself WAY lean.

Thanks for any help,
James

No that flag does not disable the knock sensor, just stops the computer from checking to make sure it is working. Then you could disconnect the knock sensor I suppose.

First of all this is a very bad idea. I can’t stress this enough. To not use a knock sensor is just asking for problems. Don’t do it. Get scanning software; you can get it for free.

If your knock sensor is picking up knocks it is a sign that the timing is to high or something is wrong. Don’t try and get around it by disabling the knock sensor.
