It's a careful blend of working back and forth.
With properly sized components you shouldn't have to dink with FP to tune the motor.

A read thur the Final Answers should shed some light on things.

my setup is

a comp cams extreme energy cam grind # xe249h-12 this cam has 206 212 duration at .05 lift (I/E) and .434 and .444 inches (I/E) of lift. i also have edelbrock TES headers, a holey projection intake, holley tbi unit part# 502-6 with the 65 pph injectors and 3 " exhaust to the muffler (flow master 50 series) and then duel 2 1/2 out the back and last and least the crappy stock swirl port heads

i just want to make sure that i do not max out the injectors due to the fuel pressuer being to low at the top end. i have it set to 15 psi right now. i would hate to tune the lower end and then find out that the injectors do not flow enough to suport the motor at the top at there curent setting

some thing tells me the underlying VE tables will have an effect on the final commanded A/F ratio in PE or WOT? i set my FP to 12 lbs and worked on the fuel tables day one of tune. after getting them corrected(reasonably close) BLMs in a few sessions(800 to 3200 rpms) closed loop. i headed to dyno. i had "commanded" the A/F to 12/1. WBO2 showed 11.9/1 and 12.1/1. maybe dumb luck. i was concerned i would go to 16/1 and engine would melt on dyno. dyno operator suggested i stand back as it probably will send parts of engine out the door and through the roof. it did not. reset commanded to 12.5/1 in PE. i felt warm and fuzzy.
