setting injector bpw in $58 code
I have 42# injectors in my sbc 400 using the $58 code the problem is when I set it to .07 like it calculates to the ST goes to 177 and if I use .08 it goes to 110
if I use the .09 it stays around 110 as well
is there some sort of flag that needs to be set first?
btw scan shows inj. pw at 1.6 and moving around +/-.2
and this is all at idle closed loop of course

I have heard the inj. pulse width on the 58 is not used from factory.
Better to use a F28 table.
You can find some good tuning notes the Brian Green wrote on the web relating to this ecm and the syclone typhoon. One copy is at www.nwstp.com another same copy at syty.huryde.com
I have a new XDF for tunerpro that will be available soon that helps also, as I have added lots of tuning notes into each item.

sorry but, it just seems like people who know this stuff keep quiet, yell at others who don't use code or think in hex.
and the other option is the ones who don't know like to give replys like yours sorry but, this board really is backwards. drives me nuts

Nothing is given freely or handed out here unless a notice of some work performed by the asker is evident.
It is not too slight you or slam you, but to rather enforce people to think for themselves, so hopefully with enough work , you or I might be the next "guru" one day.
Lots of people scam the work of people on this board or are noncontirbuting freeloaders. We have some people here who work very hard and have made some really grwat stuff for us to use, like Magnus' TunerPro or Bruce's $60 code(his version of $58 which is open source). So no, no one hear just "gives" something away.
As for your answer, I cant seem to hit the head on the search terms to find the posts, but I know this topic has been posted on before and answered. So spend some time using the button and you should find more than a few replies about Injector Constants and methods used to set it as close as possible on the $58 code and the $60 code :-)
Have a great day,
Jeremy

PLEASE...don't get discouraged by one member who is impatient. Your advice and time is apprieated by more people than you know.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted on the Tunerpro stuff.
......and 88 350 TPI, do us all a favor and sell your 7749 setup and buy an aftermarket, that way their paid techs can listen to you whine and bitch...

The injector constant term, isn't actually used.
Table F28:
F28_TABLE Base Pulse Const. vs Desired EGR
is what sets the BPC.

Thanks,
I appreciate seeing that my 6,000+ posts just aren't enough to please you.
I'll just refrain from any further comment.................

Though sometimes people are indeed tight with information, this isn't an example. Relax, my friend. If you don't get the answer you need, ask again in a different way.

I am in no way a $58 pro, Grumpy and Mangus have great tuning tips, they read most posts and chime in if appropriate. No one holds back. What I see is the great tuners are tired of "holding hands" we often look for help, when we can figure it out ourselves, they can tell when we are on the edge of an answer and let us figure it out by watching and waiting.

well, thanks to the ones who added some helpful insite ( 87tpi7749 to name one) I will give that a try and see what else I can do
I thought that the numbers I was using for injector sizing was clear as to what table I was using?
I have asked several times in the past year which is why I am so touchy right now. yes, used the search button many many of times with little address to the problem. and actually only found one post where it specified how to come to the numbers for injector bpw
it seems like the 7749 swap has tons and tons of info on how to wire it up, replace the injector drivers and how to set it up for peek and hold injectors and the accel inrichment tables but, little on the injector sizing.
and yes if I can't get the $58 code to work better then I will toss it for a after market system. or go N/A
I do give to this sight (even a good tech artical) just not much to this board if any as I don't know that much about the code part.
sorry I hurt some feeling over here did not know every one was so touchy

There is infact a formula for setting the BPW based on injector size, cyl volume, etc. But thats just the starting point. Thats why its called the BASE pulse width.
$58 has closed and open throttle VE that will need work, AE that will need work, pe if you choose to use it, etc.
I wrote a howto type article on $58, as well as a "not so black magic" tuning sticky. If you have not read them, why dont you give it a whirl.
I like to do all my tuning in open loop with $58 ($60 now). You might wanna look into that too.

I have looked at your artical before but, perhaps another look will make more sense to me
I was reading through some of the stickys ontop and how alot of this stuff works (the real dirt of it all) goes over my head quick but, I will try and take everything one step at a time and ask in a differant way if needed
