FT Mode 2

Is this routine used for anything other than the assembly line I/O test?

Seems like an easy to delete portion of the code to me......

Wow.. This is diggin back so take this with a grain of salt.. Its pretty useful if you're tired of waiting for all the useless stuff in the datastream to come out the ALDL. Folks have done 2 things...

Build hardware to query the bus directly

Use mode 2(and SW) to ask for only certain (short list) of 6-10 specific values, thus allowing say, 40 passes per second of ALDL. nice.

The info is mushed together in my brain but theres what I got on the subject.

Useful code-to-keep in the rhealm of the audience's goals here? mmm.. maybe no... probably is space better used for your talents if you've run out of space. Delete AUTO stuff in manual chip, and vice-versa. ?? Log the address-lines to a multi channel recording o-scope or something and go drive.. unless yer REALLY sure that the "internet info" shows the real story.

Runnin outta space? I gotta reserve some with the 'standards body'...

I was gonna blurt out a neet little patch project that I've been contemplating for years.. but it'd send you into 3 or 4 sleepless days I fear.. and I wanna kick this one myself (krap now I did it.. gotta live up to that now :/ )

Logging the address lines won't tell the whole story. It will only tell what happened under those certain driving instances. You are better off disassembling the code. That way you can be really sure that it tells the real story.
I am curious. What public docs are you referring to?

Sure it will if you drive long enough

I get your point.. there are no "GM" public docs.. I meant the stuff thats all over the internet... the "documents that are able to be found by the general public". including forum threads.

I'll go edit..

I've used the MODE2 stuff to read out the binary content via the ALDL port. See my DOS-based software source code for details, it's really very easy.

I must be confused... suprise.
I think you guys are talking about ALDL mode 2.
I'm talking about Factory test mode 2.
I think????
If you look in the hac,
Code:
***************************************************
***************************************************
* FACTORY TEST
* MODE 2 (I/O CHECK)
***************************************************
LEE4B LDY #$4002
I think I get it now.
ALDL MD 2 will also do FT MD 2.

Actually I noticed all this code that didn't appear to be used very often. 1k I think. Nice to delete. Not like the CCP or EGR stuff that can be modded some to do something else. Can always have a different bin to use with MD 2 still in of course.
Now I "have to" go look at the output that CM refered too.
Well somewhere on the list below RPM/37.5 and actually working on the house (my car).
I'm getting tired of modding the mode 1 stream everytime I want to see something.
