Autoprom or Ostrich?
Hello all. I am looking at getting into tuning. What I'd like to do is be able to tune for both OBD1 GM and Hondas (and Fords too I suppose) as that is what I, and my track buddies drive.
Would I be better off going with an Ostrich and Burn1 setup or does the Autoprom have all the capabilities to burn and emulate everything the Ostrich can?
I have been doing a lot of reading these last few days and its all very interesting but can get confusing.
If anyone can clarify whats better or if its even possible to tune for both a GM and Honda setup (I realize the Honda and some GM setups require repining the computer) I would greatly appreciate it. Furthermore, what type of burner is used to burn the non-flash (24 pin I believe) chips for the 85's, and what is used to burn the memcals on the later GM's without using the adapter. I only ask, as I and a friend have both had "custom" chips done for our 85 and 86 setups and neither of us are using an adaptor.
Thank you for your time. I apologize for this newbie question but this is all very intriguing and confusing at the same time.
Regards,
Dylan.

Ostrich and Burn1.
The Ostrich will handle GM and Honda, and with a J3, the Burn1 will read/write ford EECIV and EECV.

And I assume by your suggestion (as you work with Moates products) that the Autoprom doesn't have provisions for reading/writing ford chips? I recieved an e-mail from Craig explaning that the autoprom is good for GM/Honda's however I did not ask him about Fords at the time.
The Burn1 will burn everything an Autoprom will plus it can read/write for Ford with a J3? Have you had success emulating Hondas with the Ostrich? Will I need to run the Datalink cable and Ostrich to two seperate USB ports or does the Ostrich datalog and emulate at the same time like the Autoprom does? With all the information I have read today I dont recall lol.
Thanks for your help.

Yes on all counts.
People are using Ostriches for Hondas. One of the Honda tuning apps now supports the Ostrich. As it is off-topic in this forum, ask Craig for details.
The AutoProm will not read/write with a J3 (yet. it may someday).
With the Ostrich you'll need a serial port for datalogging GM (or a second USB port - serial is easier).
Hope this helps, and have fun!
