WinALDL Logging Question

I need to look at TunerPro 3.09 to do my data logging (4.0 was unrecognizable as a valid win32application...) But in the meantime, I'm using WinALDL.

My question is, when looking to adjust my tune, do I look at the Raw BLM/INT or the Sensor BLM/INT???? Raw looks good from 1200 to 3K (lean under 1200 and need to log above 3K) Sensor looks horrible at spots.... I am enclosing a partial table below.

Code:
SENSOR:RPM RAW:BLM RAW:INT SENSOR:BLM SENSOR:INT

Are you sure you've copied these correctly and you're not getting a wrap that puts the headings on the wrong columns? I usually load my Winaldl logs in Excel so I can hide columns I don't want.

My sensor and raw BLM's and INT's are always the same AFAI recall.

And you should be able to get your columns to line up in your post by enclosing the section you want in columns by "["code] and "["/code] - but take the double quotes "" out for it to work.

I copied everything from wordpad into Excel as well. I copied and pasted from Excel into the post. Thanks for the tip on lining up the columns in posts!!!!

I will try to start using TunerPro for data logging in the near future and see if that makes any difference.....

Don't use wordpad first.
Open excel.
"open" the file and use tab delineated when asked for the import method..
It will place all data in the proper columns.

Thanks for the tip. I have never used "import" for wordpad before, normally from an Acess file (or vice-versa)..... In fact, I only use wordpad for WinALDL as it is the default file system for it.

It looks like there's something wrong with your copy of Winaldl, as you have BLM's from 1 to 255. I understand that this is impossible the way the GM binaries are coded.

I'd try downloading another copy and reinstalling it on your PC.

I've just been using the Raw BLM/INT's to go off of. Some items look the same whether raw or sensor. I need to just take the time to use the datalogging in TunerPro. I wish TunerPro 4.0 would work on my computer but it gives me this "not a valid Win32 program" message. Seems like version 3.09 did the same thing originally and I don't remember what Idid to correct that......

I know I can still datalog with 3.09, but I wanted to see the gauges and changes for 4.0..... In the mean time I will reload a new version of WinALDL.

I imported a new datalog last night and the information came out the same way and it was more work that what I was already doing (Select all/copy/paste in Excel spreadsheet)

Not sure i understand.
You don't need to copy and paste any data in excel.
when you save your file just remember where it is.
Then open excel.
select the file menu at the top and go down to open.
when the window opens go to the file type box and select all files.
then select the file you saved in the directory you saved it to.
it will then come up with the option to open with tab delineated, which should be the default.

just select the default options and the file will open already in columns for you.

BTW, I don't use raw data. ony sensors, flags and errors.

Which version of Excel are you using? In 2003 you don't have the option of doing it that way. You have to go to tools/import in order to import the data. If you just click on open, it comes out really bad. Kind of like opening a .jpg file with Word. Also, you have to go through about 3 to 4 checks for it to open it in tab delineated format.

I save everything that is WinALDL based in a folder labeled the same (at least until I make an Excel file out of it). It automatically delineates everything into tab format when I paste it.

BTW, I'm a former USN (75-79) named Bill and I was just in Italy a couple of weeks ago...... Rome, Florence, Verona, and Venice.....

I'm running several versions on excel.
At home here it is 2002 SP3

I have a file named 20030129_152908_log.txt

When I open excel I go to the top left:

I select file....then open
A window opens and I go to the folder where i have my file.
Then I go to the files of type at the bottom of the small window.
It normally is defaulted to "all microsoft Excel files"
I select "all files"
then my log.txt file will show up.
I double click on it and it automatically opens the "text import wizard" screen! "step 1 of 3"
I just select next twice and then finish.

I have been able to use it like that on all my different computers, even at work!!!

HTH

I just did a 600 mile trip around Sicily this weekend!!!
It was awesome!
I'm at 23yrs now. I don't want a real job!!!
CWO2 was ATCS

Send me your file and I can convert it and send it back!!!!

Excel 2002 is different than 2003 in many ways. 2002 is closer to 2000 or XP than 2003. Has some nice upgrades in 2003, especially in PowerPoint. I have to admit I don't use 2002 that much, only at church...... Converting the files is no big deal, that's been done both ways and it still came out the same.

I re-downloaded TunerPro 4.0 and it installed correctly this time, don't think I got the whole file the last time...... I will start using it for datalogging and it looks like I will be able to open a blank Excel file and have it datalog directly to it. That will save me time all the way around.

I worked both the Terrier missile launching system and in my last year, the Mk42 5"/54 while on the USS Truxtun CGN-35. Been at my current job for 23 years (oil production, although I've run the turbines on our Cogeneration units. We've got some LM 2500's too...)
