How to erase EEPROM ?
One thing I didn't see mentioned in the other thread is how to erase the 29C256 prom ? I assume one of the pins needs to be hooked up to a switch or something to switch voltages ? Does the pocket programer have the ability to erase them ?

so what does "flashing it" mean? does that mean that it writes 0's to all the addresses & then downloads the new image after that or that it just downloads the new image & then does a checksum or somthing like that to ensure that it is right?

You may want to check this site out:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/rom4.htm
It gives pretty good non-technical descriptions:
Instead of using UV light, you can return the electrons in the cells of an EEPROM to normal with the localized application of an electric field to each cell. This erases the targeted cells of the EEPROM which can then be rewritten. EEPROMs are changed a byte at a time.
