GP for FLASH EEPROM for #730 ECM
I've ordered a dozen AMTEL 29C256 FLASH EEPROM chips for use in the #730 ECM. If you want one, the price will be $4.00 each plus postage. They will become available in mid-May. Email me if you are interested. You wont need to use a UV eraser or a ZIF socket anymore!
If I get enough interest, I can increase the quantity of the order.

I'm in, Dan! I just saw that Transtronics
has an EPROM emulator for their pocket
programmer as well for $89.95. Since I
already have the pocket programmer, that
sounds very attractive to me...

Believe it or not Andrew, six of the twelve are already spoken for! How many do you want?
If we hit twelve, I can increase the order quantity, but the longer we wait, the longer we "wait" if you know what I mean...
Boy I sure am glad you didnt sell your Trans Am...

Okay, I have commitments for 15 of the twelve chips. I'll up the order on Monday to cover the extra orders.

WS6, why don't you look at also getting an order of 12C128s? There are a lot of guys that are looking for those too. Until someone tests and confirms that an AT29C256 CAN be used on MAF car, they are stuck using those eproms.
Scope out the other link "Can I use EEPROMs" by Kevin91Z. A lot of guys are asking about 27C128s...maybe you could include those in the order? If not, look at using Insight. They cater more to the larger order and you may be able to get a better price. Until you have paid some cash, there is no committment. A couple of "group purchases" for some different types of chips may get better prices yet.

Sorry Bub, but I see this as making a quick arrangement for a GP on eeproms which is related to our board.
It isn't the typical whining and sniffling for software or chip, which WILL get locked.

I'd be up for some of the 12C128's. These will work for the MAF systems? I'll have to go over to the Atmel site & check the PDF out. Some Pinout differences I suppose...
Anyhow, if you want to do the 128's as well, I'd be interested in at least 4 or 5 just for phun.

Sorry about the slow response, but we took our four-month old son Jason to the hospital on Saturday via ambulance. He was choking on spitup, and nearly lost conciousness. his eyes rolled back into his head and he went all limp. He's okay now, but it was D*** scary for mom & dad.

I'll check on the 12C128's and see what they run.
(Update: I cannot find any 12C128 chip made by AMTEL! Are you sure that this is the corrent P/N?)

I must be "fat fingered".. I saw my typo in the original message.
Its "27C128s" not "12C128s"... those can be any manufacturer like AMD.
You probably have enough of an order to look at using Insight now.

Blue, the AT29C256s are "flash" proms and they erase "electrically". They are a direct replacement for 27C256s used in SD cars. MAF cars use the 27C128s and there is no "flash" equivilent.
As for using the AT29C256s on a MAF car, I understand that you have to do some "repinning". But I don't have a MAF car to experiment and I am not an electronics wiz to be able to say "exactly" what you have to do without using the good old fashion "trial and error" method.

From the information I downloaded at http://www.i-r.net/chipdir/pin/ show only two differences... pin 27 is /PGM on the 128 and A14 on the 256, and pin 20 is /CE on the 128 and /CE /pgm on the 256.

I am in for 3-4 27c128 untill we can verify the MAF cars and the 29c256.
I might be able to get the 27c128 from AMD here in Montreal, Canada at around 7$ can.
I will keep all informed
Will these do the trick for MAF cars?
