Need directions
Hey guys-
I'm looking for an xdf for a manual tranny (OBD-1) LT1. moates has auto ones- so that's what we're working with now, but the car has a six speed. I'm working with some other guys trying to solve a problem. Whenever the clutch is applied at speed, the RPMs hang at where they were. e.g. 30 mph, 2500 RPM, clutch disengaged driving in gear...clutch is applied, RPM stays at 2500 with no TPS.
Anyone know where I can find one?
Thanks
on another subject-
my truck has a 700r4.
Any advantage to having the TCC unlock when I'm cruising at like 40 MPH and above and let off the throttle?
THe two tables for coast unlock are
TCC - HiGr Max TPS% Coast Unlock- currently at 1.57%
TCC - HiGr Min TPS% Coast Unlock currently at .78%
Idle-TPC% CLosed Throttle is 1.18% (lower)-2.35%(upper)

I use tunercat:
There is a bit that you check for manual transmission for the 94-95 LT1. There is also a table that holds the IAC motor open above certain speeds(mph). You might want to try lowering those numbers, or closing the throttle blades a lot. You should really "tune" the throttle blade position to the split BLM though. Watch your idle BLM on the left and right banks and gradually adjust the idle screw untill they're equal.
in overdrive there is no engine braking in a 700r4, the overrun clutch is not engaged, so unlocking the converter is not needed, just puts extra wear on the clutch when it locks back up each time.

THe EBL is on my truck, the LT1/T56 car is something else.
EE.xdf doesn't have a bit for auto vs. manual
I wish I had my hands on the car, but unfortunately I don't. Trying to 'phone it in'...lol

Re: Need directions
I would like to make mine stay engaged at closed throttle coast speeds around 45 and under. Its annoying and a waste of gas having to open it back up enough to get up to speed so it can lock again.

Re: Need directions
Is this perhaps particular to a certain valve body/builders 700r4? I had a 700r4 built by Dana at Pro-Built (prior to my T56 swap) and I had my tune set up to keep the torque converter locked at low throttle settings, and it definitely would provide engine braking in overdrive (such as when I let off the gas on the freeway).

Re: Need directions
I've built a 700r4 with his kit, there are a couple of odd things that happen in there... in short I don't really know that answer.

Re: Need directions
well, looked at the built (355, big heads, big valves, .600 cam, forged bottom end) LT1/T56 bin in CATS and the auto tranny is not checked, so it is correct. Throttle follower is ok at 20 counts around 30 MPH. No error codes, also.
I have no idea what would make the RPMs hang when the clutch is applied!
#1 - the blades are closed. There is no way the engine should turn 2500 RPM with the blades closed. #2 - No TPS is in.
The blades could be binding???

Re: Need directions
The blades cound be hanging a tad. The 20 IAC counts can also be an issue. A data log of this in action would help, as then the real IAC counts, SA, and fueling can be looked at.
Without a good data log it is all a guess as to why the RPM hangs high.
