Ostrich dead?
I have an older style ostrich 1.60 and after last night at the track im starting to have problems with it for the first time. It has worked great for about 2 years. At first I thought it may have been a set of bad batteries so I replaced them. With a stock 6E.xdf and a stock ARAP.bin freshly downloaded from Craig Moates website I can upload fine to the ostrich via tuner pro and it verify's the bin fine. However if I download the bin from the ostrich and attempt to save it, it spews an error message "Can not save bin". When I upload the stock ARAP with the 6E mask to the ostrich and plug it into the ECM it starts but runs like utter crap, basicaly thinking its in limp home mode, with the SES light on. I jump the ALDL port and it doesnt flash the SES light. When I plugin a OEM PROM chip and jump the ALDL port it flashes as it should. But for some reason I am not able to pull codes with the ostrich connected. I think that the bin is getting corrupted somehow. Is there an updated firmware for the 1.60 that I can re-flash the hardware with? I inspected the board and didnt see anything fried. Nothing smells burnt. I'm not real sure as where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Ostrich dead?
You can compare using WinXP
Open a MS-DOS box (start -> run -> cmd)
go to the directory of the bins
type <fc \b written.bin read.bin>
Replace the written and read names with your actual filenames.
Probably easier to contact the vendor if the thing isn't reading & writing properly. That vendor appeared to stop doing the DIY thirdgen stuff a while ago. More into product stuff than thirdgen stuff.
