Problem With Programming a chip - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Well, It is not so much as a problem with the chip, adapter, or burner as much as me. I have Chris Moates's GP1 Adapter that bypasses the eprom so I can use an external chip, and his APU1 burner/Emulator. I am running TunerPro R/T.

Ok, here is the problem. I have the Bin file I want on the laptop that I use for the programing. Well, I burned the chips, verified the chip, but when It is put in the car, all it runs on is the "limp home" part of the MEMCAL. So, it thinks that the chip is blank. I figure I have the offset wrong since the chip still has the bin file on it. I would love to be able to Emulate and try it that way but the car is half way across the country so that is a problem. Oh yea, the Memcal is a 27C256

I was wondering if someone had a similar problem or had any ideas to help. What offsets to use and so on.

Just because its in limp home mode doesn't mean your chip wasn't burnt properly.
Have you tried reading the stock chip and burning it with no changes to see if that works? Are you sure you have the right checksum with your modified code?

Is this a MAF setup or MAP? If it is MAF, then you need to program the bin into the upper half of that chip. Start at line 4000.

Doublecheck that you have the GM Prom properly mounted on the G1 Adapter.

Make sure the checksum was calculated when you saved the file.

Your problem is likely one of these 3 things.

It is 32K and with those Buffer settings, it does not work. Thanks anyway.

Checksum was ok. It is a MAF setup.

I guess I should say what the engine is. 1997 3800 Supercharged V6 with the 16141470 computer (1993 computer).
