Re: new to winaldl help reading the numbers

winALDL will give you all sensor data. More importantly will give you a handle as to whether ECU is adding or subracting fuel based upon 02 sensor data. that is considered BLM data. Ideally BLM data should show 128 values give or take(124-132). If you see cells outside of that you correct VE tables in .bin accordingly. I used wide average for BLM but latest average is good too. I would suggest logging only on fully warmed engine w/o any hard accelleration. Easy moves on pedal.

Re: new to winaldl help reading the numbers

you should not have rich smoke visable in exhaust if all sensors are functional. I would pull "codes" from ALDL link and determine which sensors are defective. That may work only if a CE light is on or was on. winALDL should identify one being defective as the readings will be way off base for that sensor. I dont recall winALDL showing a red flags but I recall seeing the readings as they update. winALDL can be used to optimize your tune but all systems need to be fully functional. Is this a stock application? Did you do anything recently that could be pointed to?

I believe winALDL will do that. regardless even with CE off I think you can still recover codes by jumping the ALDL link. Disconnecting battery cable will clear held codes.

Re: new to winaldl help reading the numbers

I have not used winALDL for some years. But it was the first software I did used to datalog. I used since I decided to mod engine to a point stock ECU/tune would no longer work. I think it provides a rooling update of sensors with a conversion from voltage to data such as MAP, TPS%, BLM, RPM, etc. The ECU responds to NB02 feedback keeping A/F around 14.3 or 14.7 even though temps and barometric and engine wear can change. ECU looks at BLM data and changes the fueling. If BLM is way off the ECU can only change so much as it needs to be reasonably close and it may be slower in updating fueling. A good tune is considered to be such that BLM data does not fluctuate too wildly. Your ECU alone should provide you with what you need to service sensors.
