Don't know what to do next...

Did a search, read the FAQ's... still cannot find my answer.

Here's my dilema -

I have tuner pro RT, a Moates burn 2, memcals, adapter, etc. I have burned a few chips for the 7730 for my 91' w/ a little help and more antiquated equipment than I have now.

A good friend of mine has a nearly stock 88' IROC 5.7L car, 2.77 gears. I have been trying to burn him a chip for weeks. No dice. I've tried the AUJL, ARAP, and the ABYA that a fellow member sent me. The car will not start and stay running. The BINs burn successfully to the memcals every time. I load the memcal in the adapter, install it in the computer. We go to start the car, no SES light at all, nevermind the mandatory flash, and the fuel pump runs constantly.

What in the hell am I doing wrong? I was told to turn the VATS off, so I did. No change at all, did the same crap. I didn't make any big changes, just fan settings and reduced the max. amount of timing it would pull with knock.

That's all I want to do for now, and delete the 9th injector. Then study up on MAF scalars and get it on a dyno to make some fuel adjustments.

I'm sure I am overlooking something small... TIA!

What E/EPROM are you using and what offset when you program this E/EPROM?

The stock chip in his car has "ABYA" on it. I'm using the 27SF512 memcals from Moates. As for offset, not sure what that means.

Re: Don't know what to do next...

Looks like we've found your problem.

You have to know and understand what the offset is, in order to program the EEPROM correctly.

You are programming the bin to the "beginning" of the EEPROM, when it needs to be programmed at the "end" of the EEPROM.

This should help:

Re: Don't know what to do next...

10-4, I will check that out next time I attempt this on his car. I have had no issues doing memcals for my 7730 in the 91'. But, his 88' w/ the 165 seems to be a totally different animal.
