Bad PROM?

I am about 99% sure that my prom has gone bad, but I am double checking so I don't throw money at the wrong thing.

Car runs perfect... sometimes... other times it runs rich, has extreme loss of power, idles high or low, engine sometimes cuts in and out like it isn't getting enough fuel or too much. When this happens the SES light just blinks on and off. Only once was I ever able to get it to actually throw a code, and it was 51. (when the car would die after running like crap or after I would shut it off and try to run the codes it would only show 12) 51 is a bad PROM, amd I am just trying to double check with other people that would know a little bit more about this than me. Thank you guys very much!

Jonny.

Re: Bad PROM?

Mine did that, the problem
was that the prom wasn't pushed
down all the way. I had the same code 51

Re: Bad PROM?

I have it pushed in all the way, I pulled it out to check and see if any of the pins were bent, and I made sure it seated fully and properly when I put it back.

Re: Bad PROM?

A bad prom or prom connection I find is a rapid blink of CE light. Intermittant is hard to diagnose.
