Map Sensor Hose Length?
Map Sensor Hose Length?
I used the search feature to find an older posts about Map Sensors: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...p-sensors.html
My question is: When a Map Sensor is correctly placed (hose nipple pointing down / positioned slightly higher than the intake plenum) onto the firewall, what is the maximum length the hose can be?
I'm retro fitting a TPI system into a Classic Chevy. I'm converting a MAS system to a MAP system using a 7727 ECM. The MAS upper plenum does not have a mounting position for the MAP sensor.
Thanks,
dave w

Re: Map Sensor Hose Length?
All info I have found, and seen myself indicates that until the hose is very long, longer than would ever be used in a car, that there will be no appreciable difference than if the MAP sensor was mounted to the intake directly.
The biggest thing to watch out for is to use a hose that will not collapse from the vacuum.

you can use a long hose/tube as six_shooter says. The best method would be to use hard line, whether plastic or metal, and make the interconnects rubber, so the overall length of soft collapsible material is short.
