innovative or fast? wideband o2

looking to start tuning with a wideband sensor, not sure what to use to read the data yet....

i hear innovative stuff is supposed to be "the best". all i want to do, is get a readout of my A/F ratio with a wideband, and datalog so i can tune with the data. what are my choices? what do you guys use?

I have an Innovate LC-1, but I also have a 14point7.com SLC_DIY, that I like as well, because it has a built in display, some sensor options and native USB.

I have a barely used LC-1 for sale as well.

Re: innovative or fast? wideband o2

innovate is ok. LC1 seems to do well, but i have heard problems with the LM1 system. No idea yet on the hand held LM2 setup.

Fast i have heard both good and bad on but never used it.

I have LC1 and its been working well for last few years, still on same sensor. Just do a calibration every couple months.

RacePak makes good stuff I've been hearing about. I'm gonna go with them when/if I need to replace my system.

I also have an SLC_DIY. And am about to install 2 SLC_OEM's as permanent installations in a couple of friends cars. If you dont have a fine tip soldering iron I'd suggest the assembled version, the solder pads may be a bit small if all you have is a typical cheap iron.
The guy that makes these at 14point7 has been rapidly improving his wideband electronics line since his original JAW_wideband a few years ago. The newest version is real nice(and USB).

Re: innovative or fast? wideband o2

what does the LC1 do exactly?

do you just plug it into the wideband o2 sensor, run the cable down to your exhaust, and observe the readout on the monitor? can you datalog with the LC1? if so, for how long?

LC1 is a sensor and module that takes the signal and outputs data. You can connect it to laptop to datalog with or send the output to an air fuel gauge which is what I do. tune by watching the tach and watching the gauge.

With my 730 ecm using code $59, i have one output to a gauge and one output to the ECM so it will record in my datalogs.

Re: innovative or fast? wideband o2

I think my LC-1 is the cat's meow, but I haven't tried the others.

I run it as a user device on a EBL, no gauge, just on screen (WUD & EBL logging).

I had no problem installing & not one hiccup in operation.

One detail annoyed me & that was when I installed Logworks, for direct monitor/logging,
it converted ALL my existing .log files to Logworks...BIG oops!

That can be changed in Windows, it's been a while since I used XP (Windows7 seems to handle files differently), but I believe it's under folder option in the control panel.

Yes, that was kind of annoying.

Re: innovative or fast? wideband o2

Hi guys! Maybe someone can help me. I posted this on Innovate Forum with no response. I am tryinmg to tune my N20 install.

Here is my post....

I read sticky above. I have not downloaded for about 5 months. I use a DB gauge to witness A/F. I just added N20 so need to monitor A/F carefully.

I am able to capture a log in LM1. I apparently forgot to delete old logs so I am at 33% capacity. No big deal.

I bring up Logworks 2.2. I follow the instructions in sticky "dont connect". Logworks comes into view. My USB-serial is using comport 6 and same appears in Works. I place 9V in place and turn LM-1 on. It shows fact of log. I go to download LM-1 log. It appears in another overlay box and apparenly works through download. Here is where I am stuck. Where do I find file log to open and review sensor data? I think I used to use "open file log" and that is where I would see log. It shows 0.log created 9.26.10 0 bytes. I believe that is empty. I was given no option to assign a name to file log such as a date it was created. I should have several duplicates as I tried yesterday 4-5 times to download. I have not erased LM-1 yet.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to split the signal so that it goes to BOTH the AFR gauge and to a laptop for datalogging. To me, that would seem ideal... real real time info on the gauge and recorded info into the laptop for detailed viewing.

Most WBO2 controllers have 2 outputs, that are user configurable. You can set them both to linear 0-5V signals (or what ever each device needs). So one connection can be made to the gauge, the other to the ECM.

The only hitch here is if you are also using the WBO2 to simulate the NBO2, then you're back to worrying about splitting/sharing the signal between two devices.
