So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
I have been reading forums that say to help nail down bpw and offset vs. voltage to disconnect the alternator. I have no idea what I need to look for and how to adjust the parameters in question. Here is a copy of the data log. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had to chop some of it out to get it to fit. I got rid of lots of samples that were TPS % = 0. There are spaces in between where I cut them out of.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
Check the BLMs versus the battery voltage. If the BLMs are > 128 at a particular voltage, need to add to the injector offset. Vice-versa if the BLMs are lower then 128.

Thank you. Wait, my battery voltage is always showing 14.7. My fuel pump voltage is the one that is changing. How do I make adjustments when the battery voltage is staying the same?

Can patch the ALDL list for pump voltage in place of the ignition +.

Carefully?
Open the calibration (BIN) in the hex editor, go to address $431, it should be $40
Change it to $41, commit changes, save BIN and burn.
The battery voltage value in the ALDL stream will now be the fuel pump voltage. Note that this is for the '8746 ECM, maskid of $61.

This is for my truck not my Camaro. It is a 1995 K1500 w/ 7747, 0D. So..... I'm guessing that will change things?

Note that a '7747 is maskid $42. $0D runs in the PCMs. Which if your truck is an auto will have.

I'm just killing me & you too I'm sure of it.
I'm at home with the info in front of me. My Truck has the ECM#7427, Chip BJYM, Mask $0D. So now there is yet another address change. Now please excuse my ignorance. If I need to be comparing BLM's to Battery Voltage and I have Battery Voltage in my data stream what, why am I doing this again Rbob?

Doesn't make it easy...
DEVICE ID $F4, MODE 1/0: Byte #16 of the data stream is the voltage that is used for the injector compensation.
DEVICE ID $F4, MODE 1/1: Byte #6 of the data stream is the voltage that is used for the injector compensation.
DEVICE ID $F4, MODE 1/2: Byte #22 of the data stream is the voltage that is used for the injector compensation.
DEVICE ID $F5, MODE 1: Byte #33 of the data stream is the voltage that is used for the injector compensation.
Wow... Hope I got the above correct.
> If I need to be comparing BLM's to Battery Voltage and I have Battery Voltage in my

Oh, because we are trying to figure out how far off the injector compensations are. That is offset (usec) versus voltage. As the voltage to the injector changes, the opening time changes.

O.k. I've been looking at this Hex Editor Screen for several hours and I am totally lost. I do not see where the above addresses should be. I see lots of 00's, number letter combination and freaking hieroglyphics. Where do these "secret" addresses hide themselves in here? I have no idea on what the mode: 1/0 etc means or is, or any of it for that matter. I want to learn this stuff but I cannot go any further without explanation of and definition of what I am looking at. Help......please.........

The device ID ($F4/$F5) is the packet ID byte when the scan tool requests a packet of data. IT identifies which device is requesting the data.
The mode values are to identify which data stream to send. IOW, what is the data that makes up the packet.

So what should I be seeing then, any idea? I'm in the Hex Editor, isn't that the right place? If I scroll down on that screen there are lots of letter number configs, but I don't see what you're describing.
So, I see where the F4's are located, Which is the (mode) and the (byte)?
Thanks again for your patience and help.

The voltage value is already in the data stream. Just need to figure out which data stream is being used and look at the proper byte within that stream.

Since there are several types/places, you'll have to open the ADX editor (not the hex editor) and look for the items.
Aquisition... Edit Definition... (look at "Values")
When you open the ADX item (in the "Values" area) you will see the box called "Packet Offset"
One of the above locations (Byte #) will be the item you want.
Nothing will need to be changed, its just so you know the value "Name" you are looking at is the right one.

Batterey voltage will not be 14.7 with altenator disconected. Batterey max voltage is 13.2, 2.2 volts per cell. 14.7 is what batt voltage would be with altenator charging.

So if this is the correct place that is showing the Battery Voltage how do I locate this when the truck is running and the alternator is disconnected?

Ah don't give up yet! We just started!
I don't understand what your asking? If it's batt voltage at ECM these guys would know.
If it's on the truck then just about anywhere will give a voltage. Altenator usually gets it's input from somewhere mid harness as to get a reading from car with accessories running and not direct from batt or starter. Although older cars do use starter for Altenator signals.

Trying to adjust bpw and offset vs. voltage. My export logs don't seem to be providing battery voltage fluctuations when data logging w/ alternator disconnected.

Re: So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
I double checked myself just in case I made a mistake. Sadly I have not. I checked again tonight and with the alt. disconnected my Battery Voltage shows a steady 14.7V in the data stream. How do I get the actual voltage to show under my battery voltage?
I am willing to offer substantial amounts of Bass Master Magazines if someone would be willing to take a look at my Bin,XDF & ADX to help correct the issue I am currently contemplating violence over. (I'm just kidding of course....about the magazines, no no the violence part).

Re: So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
Have you tried another .adx?
Post up your adx and I will import the batt voltage settings into an ADX for a 7747 and try it out on the bench. It would take to many hours to disconnect it and install my 427...
wait... I just reread this and you said your running a 7747 with $OD? That's a pretty good trick if you can do that...

Re: So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
Just looked at your data log and neither batt voltage or fuel pump voltage changed at all? If you were running with Alt disconnected like I said earlier if alt was disconnected Batt would not be 14.7 but fuel pump may be 11.7 but if running with no altenator voltages would be going down over time! Yours don't?

Your not that far from me, come on over and I'll find it!
It's got to be your adx file. email it to me
That's the only thing reading data...
Send me the XDL too!
Or you didn't disconnect enough wires from the altenator?

I think I see your problem, your packet offset is 15 and as JP said above it comes in several places but none are 15, so try his first choice which is 16...

Has the ALDL list in the BIN been patched? As 14.7 is the stoich AFR. What does it show when in open loop?

O.k. I just checked my ADS. here is what it shows:
16 ADBAT BATTERY VOLTAGE A/D VALUE
VOLTAGE = N/10
Does this help?
Thanks,

O.k. anyone who is reading this thread to help them out, here is what the problem ended up being. With Tuner Pro open and the Bin selected, on the left hand side of the screen in the Parameter Tree, select Scalars, go to the bottom where it says Desired AFR. Make sure that is set to Battery Voltage NOT AFR.
Thanks to everyone that chimed in and a BIG thanks to Eagle Mark that took the time to look at my Bin, XDF & ADX to find out the simple solution to my enormous problem.

Re: So I data logged w/ alt. disconnected....
In the def OD_TPV5_v250.xdf there is a scaler added, it's the last scaler named desired Air Fuel Ratio and if you open it a hex value of 00A1 will show batt voltage and a value of 026D will show "Desired AFR"
