Runs better in open loop: how to get that open loop feeling while in closed?

I've tweaked the mix quite a bit. Great mileage, nice power. But its better when in open loop. Why? Could it be that I've messed with the cruise settings and maps to the point where power suffers? If so, I'd like to "untweak" those things.

Otherwise, why is the car so peppy in the morning just after I start up and head out, but a little later down the highway its not as responsive?

In open loop the engine is run richer. When cold there is also spark advance added.

You can increase the O2 window tables for a richer closed loop. Since the engine is modded could possibly run additional spark advance.

Yes, that thread has a lot of good discussion regarding the O2, INT, BLM's and such.
