Please help a soon to be newbie

Hey guys, i guess i will be entering the world of prom burning. But since i do not have the money to purchase everything off that bat, i was wondering, whats the first thing i should buy in the process. The programmer, editor??? And so i get this correct, the editor is the program which holds the prior chips information correct? Well it would be greatly appreciated if you guys could let me the order of things to buy, and what i could do in the mean time to prepare myself for learing this process, also recommendations on which model #'s you guys use in the products, i know there listed, but any personal preferences
Thank You Chris

Check out the message labeled "Trax's intro to Prom Burning". There is a link to beginners document. It is a good intro. to things related to PROM modifications. Before you buy stuff, I would suggest doing some research first to understand the things you would like to modify. If you just want to mess with stuff to learn about it then get the equip. cause you will probably want to test out your ideas.
Cheers,
J
