Code 33, 2 different Ecms?
I have this posted in the tech/general forum but I want to see if you guys can help me out any. I have 2 88 IROC's that are the same except one has a T-56 swapped in and the other has a 700-R4. Both have the 7165 ECM. The T-56 car is getting a code 33 I've tried everything and from what I've read it might possibily be a bad ECM. I swapped Ecm's in the car and both work fine in the auto car (no codes) but only the original ecm works in the T-56 car. Well both ecm's work in the T-56 car, but diacom will only hook up to the original ecm in that car. Both still have the original auto chip in both proms. My GPS on the T-56 car reads 254 and won't move. Is there any reason why the one ecm will not read at all in the other car? Thanks in advance guys.

Code 33 is your MAF Sensor..
Quite possibly, the ECM won't work becuase there is a byte in the PROM set for manual/auto trans.. Remember that our transmissions are computer controlled for lockup etc..

I know the code 33 is for the maf sensor. I've done everything i possibly could to fix it and to no avail. I've heard of people running auto chips with manual transmission after swaps and not having any real problems. the MAF tables should be about the same for auto and manual trannies i would believe. anyone else?

Code33 is a beotch. There are some values you can set to raise the threshold values above those seen to trigger the code. Do a search on Code33 and stuff'll turn up. Essentially you can pseudo-disable the Code33 by making its trigger values less stringent.
Gotta give Code33 credit though. That's the whole reason I got into this stuff!

The maf is a voltage sensitive thing(analog). It could simply be a bad ground or connection. Did you try another MAF on the car? Have you tried putting a volt meter on the MAF sensor wire?
