Hey, I just got an 85 Camaro Berlinetta on Saturday so I'm new to the F-body world. I love this car, but I'm having a problem replacing the sealed low beam headlight. There are 4 screws securing the metal frame which holds the lamp in. I am easily able to remove the top 2 screws, but the bottom 2 screws are below the plastic of the bumper. with some work I could probably force ::cringe:: a screwdriver between the bumper and the lamp and remove the lower screws, but I doubt I'd be able to get them back in after switching out the lamp. Is this how it has to be done, or is there a simple trick to doing this that I'm missing?

Last time I replaced the sealed beams, I just pushed down the plastic bumper enough to get to the screws.

IIRC, you don't have to remove them completely. The holes in the metal frame for these bottom screws are slotted.

Wow! Thanks so much for such a fast response! I feel a lot better knowing I don't have to completely remove those bottom screws. I'll give it another try before sundown.

You remembered correctly. I just pushed down the plastic a bit and only had to loosen the 2 lower screws. It worked just like you said. My headlights are all working now! Thanx so much for the help!

I replaced my sealed beams in my 92 Firebird, but the plastic wiring harness was broken (I guess it was the last time I had them replaced by the dealer). The metal clips were rusted, too, so I will probably just replace them as well. Does anybody know which colored wire does what? There are three of them. One is black but I can't remember the other two at the moment. I'd rather not guess and wire the lights backwards and do something horrible to my electrical system. I have a copy of Chilton's, but it doesn't offer any good advice.
