110-145 MPH Gauge Cluster Swap

Ok, I have a 91 Z28 with the 110 MPH cluster. My 145 MPH unit arrived today and I had previously asked about whether or not it was just a plug and play. I was told go ahead and just swap them out, but now my question is this: What about the odometer? My odometer reads 63k and the new one is like 173k. Is there a way to just swap one odometer to the other, and if so, isn't this borderline illegal?

So if I want the 145 MPH cluster, the sacrifice I make is my odometer reading 173k? I don't think this is the case, because even that would be "altering" my odometer readout. This has to be a common swap, I just need to hear from someone who has done it.

No one can help me with this? I know someone else has swapped to a better gauge cluster and didn't want an odometer with 3x the mileage on it?

On the mechanical units, you can swap the odometer rolls between the heads. You can probably do the same somehow on the electronic ones.

You can check with your local DMV on the legality of changing the odometer reading. For example, in some places you can do it as long as you put a sticker on the car showing what the old and new odometer readings were when the swap was made.

Sure, I think I figured it out. I found some places on the internet that'll set your odometers for you.
