need help BADLY!!!

Ok, i have a 91RS and just got a new tranny installed, i took it to get smoged and my electric fan wouldn't come on, well i figured out that it was the wrong fan and it rubbed the bottom of the fan shroud, so i installed a cheap aftermarket fan (wire to the ground & wire to fusebox) so it passed smog, well driving it back from my parents house i noticed that my voltage meter kept dropping rapidly... before i knew it i was on the side of the road (new battery, new alternator) i recharged the batter and unplugged the fan, i drove it home and the meter stilled droped, got home, shut the car off and it hasn't been started since (2 days ago). NO lose connections.
N E ideas, i need some, i have no car and the bus drivers went on strike.
HELP!

Sounds like that new alienator has crapped out on you. Put a voltmeter on it when running and see what you got. We can start from there.

Yeah i agree, start up the car and you should be reading 14 volts at the battery if not then your alt. is gone. Or you may have a short maybe arking to ground

alright, so i got a volt meter and it didn't read 14 volts it was beteween 11 and 12, so i went and got another alternator, i installed it and did the old trick of disconnecting the batt. while the car is runnin' and yes the car shut off as soon as i disconnected the batt. wires... could it be a ground??? or could it be 2 bad alternators. I have followed the wires from the alt. to see if they shorted somewhere, but everything seems to be fine. any suggestions will be greatly appriciated.
thanx
PS: busses still on strike!

You probably popped a fusible link on the line which excites the alternator. With the key on, probe the wires on the alt for power. There are a few.
