Wiper controls on 83 broke
I see at 1A auto there is a replacement for the wiper controls for 84-89. I have a 1983, could I modify this one or does someone offer 83 version out there? Or would this one work for me?

YOU FREAKIN' ROCK!
i did not know these existed. my wiper delay has been broken for months.... gms replacement is over $100 IIRC. you are awsome!
sorry i can't help you on the 83 perhaps purchase it and see if it works, provided a1 allows you to exchange based on fitment.

I don't know about an 83, but I got the 89 lever for my 91. It did not fit perfectly and I had to grind down the stop in the lever. It does the job, but the wiper markings don't match up. Perhaps it would just need a similar modification for an 83

I've got a new wiper control, and I'm trying to get the old one out, but no luck. The chilton's manual isn't helping either.
So, my question is, how do I get the old wiper control out? (already got the wiring out, just can't get the controller itself out).

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The only reason I can think of why that stalk wouldn't work in an 82-83 would be that the switch inside the column is different than those used in the 84-up, and thus might differ where it locks in.

EDIT: Make sure the wiper switch and washer tab are in the off position

Pull it straight out. There are no fancy clips or anything like that, it just snaps in.
