altenator wiring question
this is on a 90 camaro rs. i know the altenator has 3 wires coming off it. one black and two red. one big and one small. i know the black one goes to the voltmeter, and the two red ones go to the starter correct? there are 3 prongs coming off the starter. which wire goes where is my question. i thought i had it right but the altenator isnt charging. its a rather newer altenator and worked before i did my motor swap. can you help with this. thx

here is my guess.... purple which starts my car- goes to the side labeled S correct. then the other side labeled R, i presume means run gets one of the altenator wires. and the other wire goes in the middle with the batter wire correct?
also could the selanoid just be bad and not triggering the altenator to turn on?

I don't know how you got started with the purple wire there but it has nothing to do with the alternator. It goes to the park/neutral switch and the wire goes on the solenoid at the post marked "S". Nothing goes on the the post marked "R". There are three wires on the alternator as you mentioned.
One of the red wires is a fusible link and goes to the large post on the starter solenoid. Another red wire (sometimes black) goes to the junction block located near the battery and is also a fusible link. There is a brown wire at pin "F" on the alternator that goes to the "FAN-FP" fuse on the fuse block.
