guage cluster problem
guage cluster problem
i have a 91 RS and my tach is screwed up it wont go below 2500 and will go past 7000, so i dont know why its getting a bad reading. and my odometer and tripometer dont record the mileage as they should. i got my car in september and according to the odometer i have gone about 2000 miles. i drive to school everyday and i did the math and it is 2186 miles and i get out of school next week so thats like another 100 miles, but i have driven all over the place on weekends so i should have put about 3k-3.5k on my car but the odometer only recorded 2000? anybody have any idea what could be doing this?

Re: guage cluster problem
The tach can be recalibrated, I had the same issue.
You can do it yourself (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...meter-fix.html) or if you don't dare messing with it, I can do it for you (PM me if interested).
As for the odometer - does the speedometer show correctly? If so, you might have either a mechanical odometer problem (sometimes the little teeth on the little gears break off) or a driver board problem. The latter is less common.
Hope this helps.

Re: guage cluster problem
Sure, you can swap in any other cluster. Or just the speedometer/odometer assembly. It's up to you.
As for setting mileage on an odometer, you'd have to carefully remove the speedometer needle, remove the gauge face and the then odometer itself. After that, it's a piece of cake.
Hope this helps.
