Rear defrost and trans-shift problem
Hello everyone I have an 1986 IROC that has a rear defrost, but no switch. I see several wires in the back, what do I need to connect along with getting a switch to make rear defrost happen? Also I have an auto tranny but the problem is there is no indicator light for which gear I am in, I changed the light bulb but that isn't the problem. How do I fix this? My steering wheel is after market, grant. If has no center horn cap. What would I need to install to get the horn to work? I believe the horn is still in place just no center cap for it.
Thanks
Erik
Thanks
Erik

Re: Rear defrost and trans-shift problem
Most likely your car was a rear defrost delete (so was mine) and someone replaced your rear glass with one from a car which had rear defrost. I found a switch on ebay for $13.00 shipped. You will have to run wires back to your hatch.

On the horn issue have you pulled the wheel to see if the horn switch is still there? If not you would need to buy one of those and the horn wire. I wouldnt think it would interfere with an aftermarket wheel.
It looks something like this (round plastic). I know you can buy them at a dealer for $30. Horn wires on ebay are about $15

This one is for a 67-69 camaro but they look similar.
Not sure what to tell you on the lightbulb for the tranny. If its not getting power you might have to run another wire from the power window switch.
