Re: RFID/Pushbutton Starter Build
I posted an update on the first post.
I have a question for y'all.
The key fob that goes in your pocket will be battery operated. When the battery is low, there will be an LED that will blink to let you know. Would it be a deal breaker if the key fob could still unlock the doors with no battery, but at a reduced range (compared to with a battery)? Or is the low battery warning good enough?

Re: RFID/Pushbutton Starter Build
i was considering moving my ignition lock cylinder, and after a horrid VATS problem in my daily driver last week, i am opting not to mess with relocating it. however, i would like to possibly manipulate the wires all 'stealth like'.
i was thinking, engine only starts if cigarette lighter is plugged in while turning ignition...
how would i accomplish this?
doesnt have to be the cigarette lighter... (i smoke so i might need it haha)
perhaps tap into the fog light button even?

Re: RFID/Pushbutton Starter Build
Well, the easiest way would be to cut the VATS wire that comes from the lock cylinder and put a switch/relay between the two ends. From there, you just need to use your imagination on how to interface the switch/relay. The only problem with messing with the VATS is that if you have really, really long really, really skinny wires, it may not work because it will change the resistance that is being read. Also, if the VATS resistance is wrong (open circuit, or too much/too little resistance) yo won't be able to try to start the car again for awhile.

i know i can go through the vats and do it, but i think within the next few weeks, i'll run the bypass through VATS on both cars.
was thinking there is a good grounding wire i could splice off of.
