are diodes interchangable?

i have an aftermarket 140am 12si power master alternator, what will happen if i replace the diode pack with a 94 amp diode pack? will it just limit the output of the alternator, or fry it even more?

Re: are diodes interchangable?

Eventually, the diode pack would fry. That would happen once you put enough load on the alternator and make it charge more than the rated 94 amps.
