New diodes in alarm?

Here's my problem...the alarm I installed in my car has never worked properly. It's old, Alpine 8040, and I wired both an impact and a glassbreak sensor onto the same "optional" input. When the alarm goes off for no reason, it flashes the code for this sensor. I was told that they are feeding off of each other, tripping the alarm, and that a few diodes should solve this problem. I did one hell of an install and everything is so well hidden, (both in my car and my memory), that I really don't remember where everything meets up. Both sensors have red wires(power) and black wires(ground, I think). They each have a third wire that I'm guessing are the ones I fused into the "option" wire of the alarm itself. Does this sound right? If so, the diodes should go in-line on this third wire, cathode towards the brain, correct? I really hope someone has some advice on this....thanks.

It's been a while since the last alarm I installed... a Viper on my dad's car, back in '96... before that, installed a Viper on my car in '94... but I think you're right as to the orientation of the diode. I installed them on my sensors; I have the regular "shock" sensor and the microwave "motion" sensor. And I think that they were IN1004's... could be wrong, though. It should've been detailed in your installation manual.

You could always write Alpine and see if they can help. You don't have to put the diodes on where the trigger wires meet up; you can just cut the wire at the sensor and install the diode.

Alright, so now I've spliced diodes into the orange and blue wires, the sensors work(I can set them by their own lights) but they don't feed the alarm at all. I can kick or tap any part of my car and get the light to flash on the sensor, but not set off the alarm. Next step? Where do I go from here?
