alternator help
i have an alternator from a 99 astro van on my car. it was charging at first and now it isn't. so i replaced it with a new one and it was working for a little while and now isn't working also. i think it may have something to do with the small connector on the alternator. there is only one wire there and i have it connected to the battery. is that correct? or does anyone have a schematic. i know all the late 90s GMs use this style alternator. thanks

Alternative Alternator
Why are you using the wrong alternator?
Anyway the heavier red wire goes to the positive stud.
The thinner red wire goes to terminal S (the sensing circuit).
The brown wire goes to terminal T (the turn-on input).
